A Little Perspective

As I dig deeper into the realm of IT, the cloud, and both sides of cybersecurity, I do sometimes feel discouraged with just how much there is to learn and deal with.

(THIS IS NOT a sob story)

I go down a rabbit hole with one thing and think think, “Wow, there’s so much to learn!” (excited) And then I scroll down to see resources and tools that I “should be familiar with” or “may want to know” …….. this is just one / two of many sections hahaha

And I’ve heard of … well … not enough of them to inspire confidence within me, let’s say.

However, can we just take a minute and rejoice in the fact that there are checkmarks at all? I feel that these last few months (July till now) have been extraordinarily productive.

  • √ Network+ and a ton of associated reading
  • √ Security+ and a ton of associated reading
  • √ Splunk Core Certified Power User + hands-on practice
  • √ Hardened + optimized two personal home networks
  • √ Reported a website’s vulnerabilities of its owner
  • √ Deployed a (test) app to Azure
  • AZ-900 on Wednesday + hands-on practice
  • Took part in my first CTF and solved 12+ challenges
    • Learned to use CyberChef and a good number of its capabilities, decode various ciphers, find data hidden in webpages, and more!

And some other stuff along the way! It’s actually been wildly productive, and wow…this is only the beginning! I haven’t even started working yet! Hahahaha this is all just prep work

Maybe I can just take today to be proud of myself and what I’ve done…just for a second at least!

Okay, there we go! Now — back to work!
